“Não utilizo ciclovias porque são perigosas”
The response
É verdade que em muitos países a infraestrutura ciclável é insegura, ou de baixa qualidade. Mas isto não significa que tem que ser sempre assim.
Sabemos como projetar ciclovias adequadamente para uma utilização segura, eficiente e confortável da bicicleta – só temos que ver como os holandeses e os dinamarqueses projetam a sua infraestrutura ciclável. Estes dois países têm a maior densidade de percursos cicláveis, e (de longe) o melhor registo de segurança de utilização da bicicleta.
Boa infraestrutura ciclável reduz as interações com o tráfego motorizado até ao mínimo, e assegura que onde essas interações têm que suceder, que aconteçam a velocidades lentas, com boa visibilidade e com clareza sobre como cada um deve agir.
