“La gent que va amb bicicleta per seguretat hauria de portar armilla reflectora i altres peces de roba d'alta visibilitat”
The response
Se suposa que la roba reflectora o d'alta visibilitat fa que la gent amb bicicleta sigui més fàcil de veure, i per tant circuli més segura.
Però l'evidència no mostra això en absolut. Els estudis suggereixen que la roba reflectora té poc o gens d'efecte sobre la seguretat amb bicicleta o en el comportament de la gent que condueix. A més, pot haver-hi alguns casos en què aquesta vestimenta en realitat empitjora la visibilitat – hi ha hagut casos on la roba d'alta visibilitat s'ha citat com un factor agreujant en les morts a la carretera.
En comptes d'insistir que la gent faci servir roba especial per anar amb bicicleta o caminant, caldria dissenyar les carreteres i els carrers per a mantenir tots els usuaris fora de perill, a totes les hores.
